BRE National Solar Centre
Chris manages BRE National Solar Centre’s research projects and delivers technical expertise in solar PV for a wide variety of clients. A qualified electrical engineer, Chris has an MSc in Renewable Energy and the Built Environment and has been working closely with solar technologies for 9 years. Prior to joining BRE, Chris started her career in the renewable energy sector as an R&D engineer developing innovative energy products for the International aid and development market. She then moved on to the practical delivery of designing, installing and commissioning solar power & hybrid systems. Chris is an active member of national and international standards committees for solar and storage and is the nominated UK expert for the IEC’s Building Integrated PV programme, developing future standards for an innovative and evolving technical landscape. Recently Chris’ research projects have included; UK Government funded research into PV related fires, a demonstration project assessing the market conditions required for large scale storage systems, development of a technical guide for the multifunctional solar car parks, research into the use of satellite data to predict the impact of solar generation on local distribution networks, and a £3.3m EU funded project supporting the development of a rural local energy economy.
